Just wondered if anyone with a 5D mkII has used the micro adjustment facility on this camera to adjust focal point of lens?
I have spent most of the day doing this and found that an individual adjustment of my lenses needed to be made of between -2 and -4.

No, everything seems to work okay.
Did you adjust the lens just by focusing on one point or did you use various distances (eg close-up, mid-range and infinity)?

How did you determine the amount to adjust by? I used the Northlight walkthrough here the test is downloadable and is a GIF image which causes interference patters when focus is correct. The set up is reasonably easy to do following the instructions. My Canon lenses needed very little or no adjustment, the Sigma ones needed quite a bit.

I used Canons recomendation that, with zoom lenses, the adjustment is carried out at the longest focal length. As the focal length reduces to wide or wider angle it can only get better due to increased depth of field.

Nope ! No adjustments as yet ... everything seems to be working within normal limits of QC's stipulations - and that is precisely what matters most. I, for one, am NOT pixel-peeping !!

I used the old method of focusing on a test card (newspaper taped to flat surface) at widest aperture and longest focal length for zooms, IS off. Took three images on autofocus at each of the settings from 0 to -5 and from 0 to+5 always reseting the focus ring manually to minimum focus distance between each image. These were then checked on the computer at 100% and the sharpest selected and adjustment made in camera.
I did look at using the Northlight method earlier but see that Canon reccomend that the lenses be checked at 50 times its maximum focal length. I do not have space to check 400mm lens at 20mtrs distance.
