A black-faced helper greeting some children during the event.Like each year the first Saturday after November 11th, the red-and-white-clad Sinterklaas (St. Nicholas) arrives with great fanfare to several Dutch cities. In Nijmegen, the white-bearded legend makes his entrance into the city by sailing down the Waal River and following a route through the city. Along the route around 50 Anti-Zwarte Piet activists 'Kick Out Zwarte Piet' (KOZP) organized a protest against Sinterklaas' black-faced helpers. Also some people Pro Zwarte Piet showed up, the tension was palpable between the two sides.
