August 13, 2020, Lake Powell, Arizona, USA: The natural rock arch span of Rainbow Bridge National monument. Lake Powell is a man-made reservoir on the Colorado River in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and straddles 2 western states Utah and Arizona. It is a major vacation spot, stretching from the beginning of the Grand Canyon in Arizona to southern Utah, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area is graced with scenic views, unique geology and 10, 000 years of human history. Activities include boating, fishing, hiking. Lake Powell, is the second largest man made lake in the United States, and is a premier boating destination. Risks of water shortages continue along the Colorado River, which supplies 40 million people from Wyoming to Arizona, recent projections show higher odds of shortages within five years. The Colorado River is in the 21st year of a severe drought that's being compounded by hotter temperatures influenced by climate change, and the river's flows have been insufficient to meet demands of cities and farms.
