Madrid, Spain. 26th Mar, 2022. 2000 people demonstrate in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Madrid for the Government's turn in the position regarding Western Sahara, among hundreds of flags of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic. Because of that President of the Government Pedro Sánchez sent the Moroccan King Mohamed VI a letter in which the Spanish president states that the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco is the most “serious, realistic and credible”. This position sparked criticism in Spain, as it breaks with its traditional neutrality in the territory. Credit: dpa picture all

Madrid, Spain; 26.03.2022.- 2000 people demonstrate in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Madrid for the Government's turn in the position regarding Western Sahara, among hundreds of flags of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic. Algeria, a historical ally of the Polisario Front, also denounced that it was not notified of the decision and the Saharawis accuse the Spanish Executive of treason. "Sánchez attends, the Sahara is not for sale", has been one of the proclamations of the mobilization called by the State Coordinator of Solidarity Associations with the Sahara (CEAS-Sahara) under the slogan Not in my name.
