Sir Philip Hendy, the director of the National gallery, today unveiled ''Meridian'', the largest ever sculpture created by Barbara Hepworth, C.B.E. It stands outside one of London's principal office developments, the sixteen-storey State House in High Holborn, London W.C. Miss Hepworth, who received the major award at the 1959 Sao Paulo Biennial Exhibition, worked for four-and-a-half plaster cast weighed 27 cwt. and the completed bronze, which was cast at the famous Susse Foundry in Paris - the world's largest art foundry - weighs four tons.
