American actor Mark Schneider in his role as Napoleon, inspecting the battlefield after the Battle of Borodino, in which 130, 000 French and 120, 000 Russian troops clashed in 1812. Some three thousand men and a handful women re-enact the battle of Borodino which took place on September 7, 1812, on the former battlefield near Borodino, 100 km West of Moscow, Russia, on the occasion of the 200th aniversary of the battle. The battle of Borodino left Napoleon's French armies victorious, allowing them to continue their march towards Moscow and briefly occupy the city, before being forced to retreat from Russia.
