On May 9th 1993 the statue was taken off of the Capitol for the first and only time so far and set on the East Capitol grounds for a repair to a crack in the bronze. I was able to take a close up of the face that everyone had seen from afar for 130 years. This image shows the statue f Freedom being rreturned to the top of the dome after it was repaired.
