Deutsche-Kunst und Dekoration executed by Josef Rudolf Witzel in early1898 as part of a competition for a monthly magazine printed at Darmstadt by Alexander Koch. Josef Rudolf Witzel (September 27, 1867 - 1924/25) was a German artist, painter, illustrator and decorator, one of the pioneering posters of art nouveau in his country. He worked for publishers of postcards, sometimes erotic. Besides art, hotel, restaurant and show orders, Witzel also dealt with industry customers, such as the Audi car manufacturer (1912). After WWI, he continued to produce posters, especially for the cinema.
