Arunachala Hill, sacred to Hindus and Lord Shiva situated at the center of Tiruvannamalai in South India. This hill figures in one of Hinduisms mythological stories where Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu sport with each other in competition to prove who was the greatest! It would seem that this is a Shaivite myth as Lord Shiva triumphs and completes the story with concretizing himself as this magical hill. Here we see the hill with a marshy area that has developed after monsoon rains.
