Mahatma Gandhi, leader of the Indian independence movement speaks during the 'Salt March' with his robe over his head and his pilgrim's staff in his hand. Next to him are the author and representative of Indian women Sarojini Naidu as well as the Judge of Baroda (today Vadodara). Gandhi initiated the 'March to the Sea' as a protest against the British salt monopoly. The photo was taken during Munich-based journalist Walter Bosshard's trip through India, which he made under contract for the Munich Illustrated Newspaper in 1930., 01.01.1930-31.12.1930
