Microfluidic applications during the design and manufacture of chips instruments and systems. The chip has three 3 glass accurately aligned thermally fused layers. Each layer has etched microchannels with a total reaction volume of 1ml. This is very high for a microfluidic device. The multiple glass layers enable interdigitated mixing which involves splitting and recombining the input streams to reduce diffusion distance so providing faster and cleaner mixing and reaction times.
