Recruits from Charlie Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, run to the first obstacle during the Bayonet Assault Course at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Aug. 8. Recruits were instructed to move quickly during the course in order to try and understand what it would be like having to make sudden decisions in combat situations. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Charlie Company is scheduled to graduate Sept. 1.
