Burma/Myanmar: Late Konbaung Dynasty royal dress. The style is that of the court of King Thibaw (1878-1885). The dance of the pin-taing-san (Crown Princess), c. 1885. The origins of Burmese Dance are traced to the Pyu, Halin, and Mon cultures in the central and lower Irrawaddy regions from at least two centuries before the Christian era. Archaeological evidence shows Indian influences in this. There were also influences from Thai and Khmer cultures during the many invasions and counter-invasions that occurred over the next two millennia. An ancient civilization is defined to be in the Bronze Age either by smelting its own copper and alloying with tin, arsenic, or other metals, or by trading for bronze from production areas elsewhere. Archeologist Amit Reem shows an archeological site that has revealed a large mausoleum uncovered by the Israel Antiquities Authority while searching for the real location of the Tomb of the Maccabees in Modi'in, Israel, September 21, 2015. Byzantine Period mosaics adorned with a cross were found in the floor of a burial vault believed to be associated with the Tombs of the Maccabees who were exalted saints in the eyes of early Christianity. Polychrome Luster Tile Fragment. Dimensions: H. 4 1/4 in. (12.1 cm) W. 6 1/4 in. (15.9 cm). Date: 9th century. While the carved stucco panels best-known to have decorated Abbasid imperial residences are today without color, archaeological evidence indicates that palaces of that period were in fact colorfully adorned with wall paintings, mosaic glass, and glazed ceramics. The multi-colored, mottled patterning of this luster fragment evokes luxurious marble that might also have featured as decoration.
