This is a bronze stopridge ax of the Vlagtwedde type. The specimen has a dark to black patina, possibly due to the many decades in which it has been handled by the owners. As a result, a golden patina appears, typical of a river context. The piece is further rounded. The sides show the remains of a casting seam. The back has a damage (chip). The front has been damaged in the past. The edge then seems to be cut into a single whole again. On both sides of the front are scratches (grinding marks
