[ 1880s Japan - Tokyo from Atago-yama ] — View on Tokyo from Atago-yama, a hill some 26 meters above sea-level. The photographer pointed his camera towards the north. Teh greenery at the back is most probably the Imperial Palace. During the Edo Period, Atago-yama was a popular place for people to enjoy watching the moon. It was also a great place to photograph panoramic views of the city. 19th century vintage albumen photograph.
