1935, historical, a young man packing up after camping in a field at the edge of a forest in the lowlands of the Sudetes, whilst on a motoring adventure, in a car of the era (British), around the region of the Sudentenland in pre-ww2 Czechoslvakia. Just a few years later, in 1938, the Sudentenland, an area which had a predominantely German population, was occupied, after the Munich Agreement, by Germany. In this period, both Britain and France, with memories of the horrors of WW1, pursued a policy, known as appeasement towards Germany and their nationalist demands,

The British photographer J Allan Cash, toured Central Europe extensively in the 1930s, particularly around Czechoslavakia before WW2 began. He went on to become an official photographer for the War Office.
