1939 - The steam yacht ELETTRA used by Marconi for radio telegraphy experiments. Guglielmo Marconi's steam yacht was a seaborne laboratory used to conduct experiments with wireless telegraphy, wireless telephony and other communication and direction-finding techniques during the inter-war period. Previously she had been a private yacht and a naval patrol boat. She was originally built in the shipyards of Ramage and Ferguson Ltd of Leith -----The vessel was built in Scotland for Archduke Charles Stephen of Austria under her original name of Rovenska
