Castle Stalker (Gaelic , Stalcaire meaning Hunter or Falconer) was originally thought to have been built around 1320 by the MacDougalls who were then the Lords of Lorn .The castle has changed hands several times through the years , including the Stewarts , the Maclarens and the Campbells . The house has since returned to ownership by the Stewarts who restored the castle after the roof was removed to avoid roof tax .The castle is now used as a visitor attraction but only for a very few weeks of the year .
