The Bhopal Gas Disaster was a gas leak incident on the night of 2-3 December 1984 at the Union Carbide plant in Bhopal. Over 500,000 people were exposed to the toxic methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas as they slept. The final death toll is estimated to be between 15,000 and 20,000.
