A Ginkgo biloba tree with its autumn color in the main street of Sarlat, capital of Périgord Noir. Ginkgo biloba is a species of tree that can live a very long time. An extreme example of its resilience is the fact that it was the first tree species to regrow after the atomic bomb explosion on August 6, 1945 in Hiroshima. A Ginkgo biloba located less than a kilometer from the hypocenter survived the atomic explosion. Sarlat, Périgord, Dordogne, France, Europe. Photo by Hugo Martin/Alamy.
