Hundreds of people gathered in front of the Electoral Board and protested the decision with slogans. The mayoral certificate of DEM Party member Abdullah Zeydan, who won the election with 55 percent of the votes, was given to Abdullah Arvas, the candidate of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), who finished the election in second place with 27 percent of the votes.
