Goðafoss Waterfall. According to the Icelandc Sagas, Þorgeir Ljósvetningagoði, the chieftain of Ljósavatn-county, who lived at the farm Ljósavatn, threw his statues of the pagan gods in the waterfall Goðafoss (Waterfall of the Gods) in the year 1000 AD, after he had decided that Icelandes should adopt the Christian religion.
