'Admiral Earl Beatty', 1910s, (1919). Portrait of Admiral David Beatty, 1st Earl Beatty (1871-1936), British naval commander during World War I. Beatty commanded the Royal Navy's battlecruisers at the Battle of Jutland, 31 May 1916. He was appointed Commander-in-chief of the Grand Fleet in 1917, and Admiral of the Fleet and First Sea Lord in 1919.
