Amphibolite, a metamorphic rock containing black amphibole. The light veins are plagioclase feldspar. The old basalt (Silurien 480 million years ago) was metamorphosed about 360 mya during the Hercynian orogenesis. This is an exhibit in the open air geology museum, Geoscope at the Aire de la Lozere, France.
