An airhostess of Air France unfolds a table at the new first-class section unveiled by Air France during an exhibition of Air Frances new first-class suite in Shanghai, China, 7 May 2014. Air France unveiled its new first-class section in Shanghai on Wednesday (7 May 2014), fuelling an international luxury-seating race to win over Asias rising number of high fliers. The airlines haute couture suite will feature a seat that reclines into a bed stretching 2.01 metres long and 77 centimeters across (6 ft 7 ins and 30 inches) -- one of the most spacious in the world. The new product, which will be rolled out across the airlines fleet of Boeing 777-300 aircraft, stretches out to form a fully-flat, two-meter-long bed, which comes completed with a duvet designed by Sofitel. Each suite will offer 3 square meters of space and will be separated from the rest of the cabin with thick curtains, held back with leather tiebacks, allowing full or partial privacy. Opposite the leather passenger seat, a second Ottoman-style seat allows passengers to dine with a friend. In terms of technology, each seat comes equipped with a 24-inch (61cm) HD touchscreen TV. A total of 76 of the seats will be fitted into the airlines 19 Boeing 777-300 jets at a cost of 50 million euros (US$70 million), the company said as it showed off the new offering in an expenses-paid trip for journalists to Chinas commercial hub. The airline will exhibit its new first class suites in Shanghai from now until 11 May.
