An old engraved portrait of Thomas Chalmers (1780 –1847) former leader of the Church of Scotland and the Scotland Free Church. The Scottish minister was also a professor of theology, and political activist who served as Vice-president of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and was at one time minister of the Tron Church, Glasgow . The New Zealand town of Port Chalmers was named after him.
