Ancient Egyptian painted wall relief from the tomb of Sety I, 1290-1279 BC, 19th dynasty, Valley of the Kings Kuxor. Plaster cast. The panel depicts the king greeting Horus. Horus is one of the most significant ancient Egyptian deities who served many functions, most notably god of kingship and the sky. Robert Hay was a British watercolorist who traveled and worked in Egypt 1824-1834, and produced many drawings of the Valley of the Kings that are now in the British Museum. He gave the artifacts and plaster casts he collected to the British Museum. Robert Hay died in East Lothian in 1863.
