Apr 22, 2006; Kathmandu, NEPAL; Demonstration time in Nepal: Seven opposition democratic parties and anti-monarchy protesters were defying the curfew order of the government to restore a democratic republic in Nepal. During this movement 15 people were killed by security personnel and hundreds of people were badly injured. King Gyanendra addressed the people trying to undo his 1 Feb takeover - when he sacked his government and assumed direct powers - announcing on Friday that he intends to restore power to the people. But the opposition alliance rejected the King's offer at a meeting on Saturday and the people of Nepal are demanding the restoration of a democratic republic.
