ARABIAN GULF (Jan. 9, 2004)--Members of the U.S. Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment (LEDET) 106 ride in a rigid hull inflatable boat from USS Firebolt (PC 10) to a cargo dhow where they will board the vessel and search for smuggled Iraqi oil. Coast Guard LEDETs are often deployed aboard U.S. Navy ships and they are considered specialists in vessel boardings and shipboard investigations. The San Diego based LEDET 106 is depolyed to the Arabian Gulf to assist coalition forces as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Maritime Interception Operations.
