Ballarat Australia / The Eureka Diggers Memorial dedicated to gold diggers killed at the 1854 Eureka Stockade battle in Ballarat Victoria Australia. This is the final resting place of the gold diggers who died defending their fortified camp from attacking government soldiers. The disgruntled gold miners had a camp on the Eureka Gold Lead in Ballarat East. This camp was later called the Eureka Stockade and many miners were killed and wounded in this conflict. The surviving miners were charged and tried in Melbourne, and were later acquitted. There were many reforms and the rights of the miners improved afterwards.
