The Vel Vel festival is celebrated in the Hooghly district of the Indian state of West Bengal. It is originally a traditional Annual Thaipusam festival of Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka. Devotees perform various rituals during the festival. This tamil community observes 'Vel Vel' festival to worship Lord Murugan, the Hindu god of war and a son of Shiva.
