Southwold, Suffolk, England, UK: beach huts, beach cabins or bathing boxes, some newly painted and some showing the effects of harsh winds, on the Promenade at Southwold, a seaside resort overlooking the North Sea on the East Anglian / Suffolk Heritage Coast. The Promenade and neighbouring sites have become coveted prime locations for around 300 privately-owned timber cabins. The rows of colourful huts are seen as iconic symbols of the traditional British seaside holiday. The huts are lockable and most boast shutters and verandas. They have evolved from humble traditional fishermen’s huts into sought-after holiday accommodation. D0985.B1857
