Bishop's Palace, Lincoln, Lincolnshire, c1980-c2017. View looking towards Alnwick Tower with the cathedral behind. Begun in the 1170s, Lincoln's medieval Bishop's Palace was said to be one of the most impressive buildings in England in the Middle Ages. The palace was partially destroyed in the English Civil War and was afterwards largely abandoned.
