Black Nativity, the African American Christmas musical song play by poet and playwright Langston Hughes returns to the stage after a year hiatus due to the 2020 pandemic. The play opens in a modern-day church with sanctified ladies and deacons reading scriptures, as the play moves to poetry, dance, and the journey of Mary (Erica Brown) and Joseph (Brian D. Crawford) trek to Bethlehem. The play runs Thursday, December 9-12 (Sunday), 2021 at the Wilson Theater, Vogel Hall, 123 E. State Street in Milwaukee Wisconsin. The production this year is a new fresh perspective of the joyous musical experience with a contemporary flair. Directed by Dimonte Henning.
