The railway line at Dawlish is vulnerable to disruption and damage by the sea during stormy weather. As a result the seawall has been raised between Boat Cove and Colonnade underpass, and work is already in progress (2021) to raise the next section as far as Coastguard Cottages. This will include rebuilding the seaward platform at the station. The passing train is 2T16 the 1123 Exmouth to Paignton service.
