Bristol Lead Shot Tower , Built in the late 1960's to replace the original shot tower which was demolished to facilitate road widening outside St Mary Redcliffe Church. The original Bristol (UK) tower was the first in the world, built (1782) by William Watts, who developed the method of manufacturing lead shot by pouring molten lead through a sieve and letting it drop far enough to form a perfect sphere, then catching it after solidification, in a water bath so as not to deform it. The tower is now surrounded by modern office buildings but is a listed building so although no longer used it will endure.
