The girl athletes forming Britain ' s woman ' s team for the Olympic Games , left Victoria Station , London , for Berlin where the 1936 Games open next week . The team includes Civil Servants , an artist , two schoolgirls and University students , and is led by Mrs Cornell , the manager , Mrs Cornell , Hon Secretary of the Women ' s AAA . Photo shows , Miss Whitehead ( hurdler ) , Miss K Connell ( javelin thrower ) and Miss D Odam , schoolgirl high jump champion , waving goodbye as they left Victoria . 30 July 1936
