Bush land, Lamington National Park, Beaudesert Shire, September 1933. LAMINGTON NATIONAL PARK No Removal Of Timber 36721618?searchTerm=lamington national park&searchLimits=l-state=Queensland|||l-word=100+-+1000+Words ) The removal of timber from Lamington National Park will not be tolerated on any account, said the Minister for Transport (Mr. J. Dash), who supervises the Tourist Branch, yesterday. Mr. Dash received this assurance after personal representations to the Lands Department. The Director of Forests (Mr. V. Grenning) had advised the Minister for Lands that although several applications had been received in recent years for timber on that area, and deputations had urged the alienation of a portion of the park mainly for the timber it carried, every request had received an unqualified refusal. Mr. Dash added that the Forestry Sub-department, realising the importance of preserving national parks in their primeval condition, did not permit any timber operations on them and had endeavoured, with the assistance of local honorary rangers, to protect them from spoliation. Lamington National Park had come to be looked upon as Queensland's National Park, with its wealth of scenic attractions and its increasing popularity as a holiday resort.
