Cambodia: 'Ruins of Bayon, Angkor Thom'. Engraving from the 'Voyage d'Exploration en Indo-Chine' by Louis Delaporte (11 January 1842 - 3 May 1925), 1873. The Bayon was originally the official state temple of the Mahayana Buddhist King Jayavarman VII. The Bayon, at the centre of Angkor Thom (Great City), was established in the 12th century by King Jayavarman VII.
