Carnegie Library displays in Edgartown Martha's Vineyard Massachusetts. Given to the town of Edgartown as a gift for the enrichment of its citizens, The Carnegie was funded by industrialist Andrew Carnegie on land that was donated by Caroline Osborn Warren. The handsome Neoclassical structure served as the town library from 1904 until 2016, when a newer larger public library building was constructed on another site. After an extensive restoration and renovation, Vineyard Trust reopened the landmark, now referred to simply as “The Carnegie, ” to the public in 2018 as a heritage center.
