Charles Wesley, 18th century English preacher and hymn writer. Charles (1707-1788) was the brother of John Wesley (1703-1791) with whom he founded Methodism. Among the more than 5500 hymns he wrote were Jesu, Lover of my soul Love divine, all loves excelling and Hark, the Herald Angels sing.
