He created Heaven and Earth, and resides in the Heaven of Jade Purity. According to Daoist beliefs the entire manifested universe is ruled by three original forces: the Three Pure Ones (Sanqing). The Three Pure Ones were brought into existence through the interaction of yin and yang.
