On March 29 last year (2017), Peng Peng, a 6-year-old boy from Linwei district, Weinan city, Shaanxi province, was sent to the First Hospital of Weinan, suffering from multiple injuries. At that time, the boy's heart stopped beating, 75 percent of the skull crushed, two ribs broken, binocular retinas and upper incisors all fell off, and multiple skin ulceration. According to police investigations, Peng's stepmother, Sun, beat the child with wire ropes, bamboo sticks and other tools for a long time. Peng Peng has undergone four major operations in the past year. Now, the 7-year-old child lies on a hospital bed in a constant vegetative state, with no relatives around to take care of him, and cannot be transferred to a hospital for better treatment.
