Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Book louse (Liposcelis divinatorius). Liposcelis divinatorius is a small soft-bodied insect known as the book louse or chewing louse. It possesses chewing mouthparts that can easily chew on cellulose fibres. Liposcelis is a genus of insects in the order Psocoptera, the booklice and bark lice. These lice are associated with human habitation and several are well known as pests of stored products. They can also be found in older books. The genus is distributed nearly worldwide. These booklice mainly attack grain stores. Magnification: x24 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres.
