Solapur, India: COMICAL images show how an amorous fan-throated lizard conducted an impressive courtship display before winning over his lover with a playful hug.Images show the proud lizard having the time of his life jumping around showing off his colourful throat.Fan-throated lizards are small, colourful reptiles found in the dry shrublands and coastal areas of South Asia.The males attempt to attract the attention of females during their breeding season by their unique courtship display and how they dominate their territories to win over females.Males have a loose patch of skin drooping from their throats ? it doesn't sound like much but comes into its own when the lizards' dating game begins.These lizards are very territorial and aggressive in nature.These stunning images were captured by Ratnakar Hiremath (21) using a Canon 77D with 300mm f4 lens in Solapur, India.?Many people are astonished after seeing these pictures, as people are not aware that lizards are in such diversity and show this kind of beauty, ? said Ratnakar.?People often question their existence.?I was nearly ten feet from the fan-throated lizard.?It was not an easy task to photograph this behaviour.?You not only have to be in the right place at the right time but also to be aware of their behaviour and be fast enough in photography because everything happens within a span of a few seconds.?As an enthusiastic animal welfare worker, I have been rescuing several mammals, reptiles and apes for seven years now.? mediadrumimages/RatnakarHiremath
