Dambulla, Sri Lanka - 11 February 2014 Dambulla cave temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla is a World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka, situated in the central part of the country. It dates back to the first century BCE. At ground level, the temple is dominated by the huge Golden Buddha. But it is also famous for its cave temples - the outside of which are shown here; these can be reached by a lung-shattering climb up several hundred steps in stupefying tropical heat.
