Howden Reservoir is the upper of three reservoirs in the Upper Derwent Valley in the Peak District of Derbyshire. The three reservoirs , Howden, Derwent and Ladybower, are linked by the River Derwent flowing through the valley. In the hot summer of 2018 the water levels were down below 50% as shown in this image. The dam was completed in 1912. The Dam Busters, 617 squadron, used the dams for practice before their daring raid into Germany in World War II.
