Entrance to the mosque and mausoleum complex of Moulay Idris I in the town of Moulay Idriss (Moulay Idriss Zerhoun) in Morocco, Africa. The holy town of Moulay Idriss was where Moulay Idriss I arrived in 789, bringing with him the religion of Islam, and starting a new dynasty. Idris I (known as Moulay Idris) was a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad who fled from Abbasid-controlled territory after the Battle of Fakh because he had supported the defeated pro-Shi'a rebels.
