Family gathering: Baptism of Eileen Elster at Benhilton Church, Surrey, England. 1929. From a photograph album c1920s, original images were of various sizes. A note with the album stated: “This album was sent to England by the Executors of Helen Friese whose mother was an Elster sister of Augustus Karl. The family emigrated to Chicago from Triev, Germany. Helen was a teacher and an only child. Karl Friese and his brother married two Elster sisters, Dina and Leise.” Family images and images of Chicago, many were snapshots. These were amateur photographs.
