'Father'of Tristan da Cunha , leaves London to return to world loneliest Island. The Rev Harold Wilde, resident clergyman and leader of the population of Tristan da Cunha, the world loneliest island, left Waterloo station, London, to return to his post after eight months leave in England. Mr Wilde is flying from Southampton to South Africa by Imperial Airways flying boat, and will join the Norwegian expedition, which leaves Cape Town for Tristan at the end of the month. 6 November 1937
